Private Lesson Policies
For 2019 – 2020, private lessons are scheduled once weekly for a full academic year.
Lessons begin the week of September 9, 2019 and end June 12, 2020 and include a total of 36 lessons. (If your lesson is scheduled for a Monday, please discuss with your instructor how he/she will handle the statutory holidays.)
Lessons not included in the 36 lesson term include Christmas break (2 weeks) and Spring break (2 weeks).
IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR 2019-2020!
Payments are due at the time of registration in full by cash, cheque or etransfer OR (if registering for the full term) in 8 equal payments by post-dated cheque (September 1, 2019 to April 1, 2019).
Any past due accounts must also be paid at the time of registration.
Cheques are made payable to “Penticton Academy of Music” dated the first of each month.
PLEASE NOTE: NSF cheques must be replaced within 1 week of notification and include applicable charges.
There is an annual non-refundable REGISTRATION FEE of $35.00 per discipline to a maximum of $90.00 per family due at registration. Registration fees go towards paying our office staff.
There is also a Penticton Academy of Music Society Membership fee of $15.00 per family due at registration. Our Society Members have certain benefits and responsibilities at the Academy such as Member Only Events, Volunteering, Voting and Discounts.
Missed Lessons, Cancellations, Withdrawals, and Refunds
Missed lessons: The Academy and its faculty are under no obligation to give refunds or make up lessons for lessons missed by students.
Cancelled lessons: Lessons cancelled by faculty will be made up at a mutually convenient time or student accounts will be credited.
Lesson withdrawal: To discontinue lessons and suspend automatic charges, PLEASE NOTIFY THE FRONT DESK in writing one full month prior to the first of the month. Notice given to the instructor only (verbally or otherwise) and non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from lessons. For example, if you plan to discontinue/suspend lessons in May, then we will need to receive your written notice by the first lesson in April. If no notice is given by the first lesson of the month before lessons are being discontinued/suspended, the student/parent will be responsible for the next full month’s tuition. NOTE: No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1, 2020.
To register for private lessons please follow these steps:
Step 1: Read the FACULTY BIOS to help you choose a teacher.
Step 2: Contact the instructor at the email address indicated in his/her bio for rates and to set up a lesson time.
Step 3: Once you have contacted the teacher to set up a time, you must REGISTER ONLINE (using the form below) or in person at the Academy office, Room 1 at the Leir House.
Step 4: After you register, you will receive an invoice by email. Payments can be made via etransfer or cheque.
